Vivir, vivir 2008

Region: Ribera del Duero D.O.
Winery: J.C. CONDE (NEO), BODEGAS

Grapes: 100% Tempranillo
Vintage: 2008
Color: Red

This wine is sourced from 20-60 year vines in La Horra, a village in the Burgos District of Ribera del Duero. Produced by Bodegas Neo, with Isaac Fernandez, managing the vineyards and making the wines. The grapes see an 8 day fermentation on the skins prior to gentle pressing. The wine was then aged in tank for 1 year prior to bottling to allow the grape tannins to soften.

The Wine Enthusiast 87 The packaging and name are a little contrived, but what’s in the bottle stands up to scrutiny. The aromas are warm and plummy, with a hint of toast and cream. The palate is clean and juicy, with snappy black raspberry fruit and a fruity carry-over onto the finish. Spunky, fresh and pleasant.

The Wine Advocate 86 Bodegas Neo’s 2008 Vivir, vivir is 100% Tempranillo aged in tank for 1 year. Medium crimson-colored, it offers up a fruity nose of black cherry and plum. This leads to a forward wine with spicy red and black fruit flavors and no hard edges. Drink this solid value over the next 3 years.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 87 Vivid ruby. Sexy red and dark berry flavors are uncomplicated but pure. Taut, nicely delineated raspberry and blackberry flavors are firmed by lightly chewy tannins and pick up spiciness with air. The slightly rigid finish is refreshingly bitter and nicely focused.

Drink: A Beer, Wine and Spirits Blog NA Interesting and manifold spicy aromas of nutmeg, spice cake, blueberry and raspberry. A mellow, easy-to-drink wine with tastes of red apple skin, coffee and black cherry.
