This wine is made from 100% Tempranillo, which is well adapted to the region and started to be planted in the 1980s. Fermentation occurs in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at temperature no higher than 80 degrees F. Skin maceration is limited to time during fermentation to yield a generously textured wine. Aged for 3 months in stainless steel tank prior to bottling to allow some tannin to soften.

Deep ruby. Inviting aromas and flavors of raspberry, cherry and tobacco, plus a hint of dried rose. Sweet, silky and energetic, offering spicy red fruit flavors and gentle mineral lift. Finishes on a refreshingly bitter note, with good spicy persistence. This also delivers excellent bang for the buck. Issue 145, July/Aug '09

Fresh and juicy, this wine showcases the delicious flavors of Tempranillo without a lot of earthy or oaky notes. That means that it is a bit short on complexity by comparison to bottlings that many consumers might know from Rioja, but that shortcoming is nicely compensated for by the purity and freshness of the fruit and the attractively low price.
