Made from the fruit of 40 year and older vines, cepas viejas, of Garnacha which are farmed in traditional methods, en vaso. The grapes were fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at temperatures no higher than 80 degrees F. Skin maceration is limited to 15 days aiming to yield a generously textured wine. Aged for 3 months in stainless steel tank prior to bottling to allow some tannin to soften.
Vibrant ruby. Black raspberry and cracked pepper on the nose, with a subtle floral quality adding interest. Plump, juicy red berry flavors are enlivened by zesty minerality and betray no rough edges. Finishes with alluring sweetness and an echo of minerality. This is a superb value. Issue 145, July/Aug '09
